What is Mulberry Extract?
Great for: Skin-lightening, lightens age spots and evens skin tone
How it works: Mulberry extract appears to inhibit tyrosinase, the enzyme that controls the production of melanin, and oxidation activity. A 2003 study showed an extract from the young twigs of white mulberry suppressed tyrosinase activity in B-16 melanoma cells.
Where does Mulberry Extract come from?
Mulberry root extract comes from the white Mulberry tree that is native to China but is also grown in Europe, Japan, Australia, and North America. The most effective version appears to come from the white mulberry (Morus alba). You might recognize white mulberry as being the primary food sources of silkworms in China.
